Inspired by the diverse properties of the prickly pear plant, the Burger family has set out to develop innovative, sustainable solutions that harness its power and by creating a business built around this extraordinary resource. This is done with innovative products that will benefit both people and the planet.
Nestled snugly between Montagu and Barrydale, Tahlia is an ever-evolving dream that produces a unique experience to the visitor to the farm.
The basis of all Tahlia’s cactus spirits, catus fruit based wine and liqueurs are what you would traditionally expect, but we have put our own twist on it by infusing it with prickly pear cactus leaf and fruit, to give it a very distinct taste and experience.
Our non-alcoholic Gin consist of juniper and three very unique tasting virgin distilled botanicals that are perfect for those who prefer a non-alcoholic option, but still love the taste of the traditional gin and tonic.
Meet the owner
Andries Burger
Andries and Alicia Burger is the owners of Tahlia Farm. Andries is the inspiration behind this remarkable venture as well as the distiller. He grew up on a farm in the Boland, but has a passion for the Klein Karoo.

“I have two favourites, our barrel aged Gin and our White Rum. All our other gin’s are very special, and have a touch of the prickly pear in it.”

Charmaine Hendricks
Charmaine Hendriks is the friendly face behind Tahlia Farm’s tasting room. She is responsible for the hosting of the tasting room, that includes Gin tastings and pairings, platters and and other products.
