More about us
Du’SwaRoo wine and olive farm is located just North of Calitzdorp on the road to Groenfontein and lies across the secondary slopes of Besemkop, south of the Swartberg mountains.
Kallie and Pat Calitz recently purchased the farm from Tony and Nita Bailey.
Du’SwaRoo wine is produced in our cellar since 2007. Boutique farm style wines are produced in limited quantities from grapes from the Shiraz and Port vineyards on the farm and additional cultivars sourced from our neighbours. Du’SwaRoo is the smallest cellar on the Klein Karoo wine route and it is highly unlikely that you will find any Du’SwaRoo wines on the shelves at your local bottle store. So make sure you visit us when in Calitzdorp.
Meet the owner/winemaker
Kallie Calitz is the sole director of Du’SwaRoo (PTY) Ltd and is the winemaker at Du’SwaRoo. He is a retired soldier and also work for the UN in various war stricken countries managing the removal of landmines and unexploded munitions and bombs. As someone that can’t sit still he decided to move to where his family roots are from and make his favorite drink, wine.
His favourite wine from the cellar
His favourite wines from the cellar most probably are the Shiraz and Sirocco blend as he participate in every activity from the harvest through to bottling, making the opening of the first bottle with the family very special.
