Welcome to
our newest member. Hillock Wines
is the first private wine cellar
nestled in the fertile Dwarsrivier
valley, owned by Andrew and Penny
Hillock. 2011 was its first harvest
undertaken by winemaker Duan Brits
with a selection of white wines –
Sauvignon blanc, Chardonnay, a white
blend and one red, a Shiraz.
The farm is situated on the
Laingsburg road, 9 km from Ladismith
amongst picturesque winelands,
abundant fruit farms and the
magnificent Towerkop mountain,
producing grapes, olives, figs and
hosting the 4-star Mymering Guest
House and restaurant. |

the quality of their vineyards and
each year the best block is chosen
in a regional competition.
Vinpro is
the organisers of the competition
and the trophy for the best block
for 2011 was awarded to Jean-Pierre
de Villiers of Jean-Pierre Boerdery
from Montagu and his team - Johannes
Joubert and Gerhard Colyn. |

Meet the
winemaker. Duan Brits is the
winemaker of our newest member,
Hillock Wines near Ladismith. He
spent the years between 1997 and
2007 as winemaker in Stellenbosch,
France, Germany and the USA. In
South Africa he was involved at
Slaley, Muratie, Rainbows End,
Marklew and started Juno Wines in
2002.
His favourite wine from the
cellar: Hillock Wines have 3
white wines and a Shiraz, but 2011
is the first harvest, with promises
of quality – no favourite yet.
