Ladismith, as with the rest of the Klein Karoo, benefited from the ostrich feather boom at the turn of the previous century.  There are still many attractive houses dating from the Victorian era.  Today Ladismith serves an extensive farming area with an ideal climate for the production of quality fruit - apricots, peaches, plums, nectarines and grapes.

At the Ladismith Cheese Company, guided tours of the cheese factory are available during office hours and for the explorers amongst us there are interesting and historic scenic drives.

Equally synonymous with Ladismith is Towerkop ("Magic Mountain") that shelters the town - the logical choice for flagship lable of the only cellar in town, Ladismith Cellar.
