Joubert-Tradauw is a boutique cellar in
the Tradouw Valley near Barrydale. This
valley has a unique microclimate. Cool
air from the Atlantic Ocean flows over
the Langeberg, resulting in diverse day
and night temperatures.
Only 20% of the
grapes are selected to produce classic,
well-balanced and integrated wine in an
European style that compliments food.
Focus is on little intervention and
solid agriculture practices. |

Meet the winemaker. Meyer
Joubert of Joubert-Tradauw Private
Cellar’s first love is nature, the
whole terroir. He makes wine because
it comes from the earth and in his
wines, one is able to taste his
beloved Tradouw valley in all its
dimensions. Furthermore, Meyer makes
wine because he loves to socialize,
eat good food and drink good wine.
His favourite wine from the
cellar: The barrel-fermented
Chardonnay. It is a style unique to
the valley. |

Fact about Meyer you probably did
not know: He loves to scuba dive,
riding his motorbike visiting
and seeing places not normally seen.
His views on the 2010 harvest:
Extreme. Warm days, cool nights, dry air and
draught. A difficult harvest, but a surprising
one delivering full, well-rounded wines.
