Boplaas is situated
in Calitzdorp, a small picturesque
village in the Southern Cape province in
the majestic Little Karoo. The Nel
family is part of a rich legacy that
reaches back to more than 150 years.
Boplaas is a family concern with Carel Nel, a Cape Wine Master, as owner and
cellar master. Boplaas has long been
regarded as in the forefront in premium
wine production. Boplaas is known for
world-class Ports and their award
winning pot-stilled brandies". The
Touriga Nacional is the newest addition
to their range of wines and has already
proven to be a winner at regional and
international wine competitions.
In keeping with the biodiversity
initiative, Boplaas devoted 2200 ha
exclusively to nature conservation
objectives, while a portion of income
generated by wine exports is budgeted
for conservation.

Family Vineyards in Calitzdorp
new venture to promote top
quality Sauvignon Blanc and Shiraz
under their Cool Bay label
was boosted with the Cool Bay
Reserve Sauvignon Blanc being
awarded the SA Champion Sauvignon
Blanc trophy at the 2009 SA Young
Wine Show.
The Cool Bay tasting facility is
located next to the N2 between
George and Mossel Bay (Klein-Brakrivier).
Not only are wines from Cool Bay and
Boplaas Family Vineyards available,
but other wines from the Cape
Winemakers Guild and a selection of
wines from France, Germany and New
Zealand as well.
The Stonehill Restaurant - appointed
one of the Top 10 restaurants in
South-Africa - is next to the
tasting facility, serving Cool Bay
and Boplaas wines with their menu.
