Boplaas Family Vineyards has emerged as one of the most successful producers rated for the 2019 National Wine Challenge list of Top 100 SA Wines this year. Not only were six of its wines included, but it also claimed titles for amongst others Best in Class.

The renowned estate’s top performer was the Cape Tawny Port, which received Double Platinum and a of Grand Cru Award (Best in Class). Its Cape Vintage Reserve Port 2017 received joint first place, also winning Double Platinum.  The Boplaas Gamka Red Reserve 2017 and Cape Vintage Reserve Port 2009 received Double Gold while Double Silver was awarded to the Boplaas Touriga Nacional Reserve 2016 and the Boplaas Ring of Rocks Family Reserve 2016.

“We are immensely pleased these wines have received the recognition they deserve, particularly where the Cape Tawny and Cape Vintage Reserve ports are concerned,” says winemaker Margaux Nel. “A lot of effort goes into producing these two world-class Cape Port wines.”

The National Wine Challenge seeks to identify winning wines by cultivar and blend, with medals awarded for top-scoring wines. The Top 100 highest scoring wines form the elite Top 100 SA Wines, a club of SA’s finest.
